Katharine Donnelly, Ph.D.

Welcome everyone! I am a licensed psychologist in New Jersey and New York. I practice Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), traditional behavioral treatments, including Exposure and Response Prevention (E/RP).

I completed my doctoral work at Hofstra University, and my post-doc at the Bio-Behavioral Institute, where I worked largely with Obsessive Compulsive-Related Disorders. I have co-authored two books: “Overcoming Depersonalization disorder: A Mindfulness and Acceptance Guide to Conquering Feelings of Numbness and Unreality,” as well as, “Children of Hoarders: How to Minimize Conflict, Reduce the Clutter, and Improve Your Relationship.”

My clinical successes over the years are supported by solid training in “evidence-based approaches”, or treatments that work! I like to tackle problems head-on, with patience and a healthy sense of humor. Frequency and format of my sessions is tailored to meet your needs: if your difficulties require more frequency, we can meet on a more intensive basis; if your challenging habits are largely encountered at home, we can plan to arrange some sessions at your residence. I am practical and keep my focus fixed on symptom reduction and functional improvement!

My clinical areas of expertise include:

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • Social Anxiety Disorder

  • School Refusal

  • Illness Anxiety Disorder

  • Mood Disorders

  • Depersonalization/Derealization Disorder

  • Panic Disorder

  • Body image Anxiety, including Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD)

  • Phobias

  • Generalized Anxiety Disorder

  • And others in the mood/anxiety spectrums.

I work with children, adults, and families in order to improve functioning and quality of life. Using evidence-based solutions, I help my clients achieve their goals and get back to their lives. Explore my FAQs and learn a bit more about CBT and recovery from anxiety and mood concerns!
